1974 Volkswagen Thing.

This VW is owned by Heidi Andrews and her husband
from Illinois.
Heidi had the following to say about her VW Thing and his 1978 Westfalia.
I thought that if you're still adding pictures, you might enjoy a couple of mine. I have a 1978 Westfalia, in restored stock condition (outside has been restored, inside is original, but almost mint condition), and a 1974 Thing.  Both are green and have appropriately "green" names; The PickleBus and Senor Frogg. We are in the process of getting SrFrogg up to snuff in the running department. He runs, but not too well at the moment, since he sat for about three years in a car port in Florida. He just needs some carb cleanup and fuel system overhauling, and he'll be ready to roll. After that, we start on the always fun process of restoration, but since Froggy's virtually rust free, it won't be all that bad.
The PB is my one true love (shhh, don't tell my husband!), and is very similar to the 1976 Sage Green Westy my parents owned when I was a girl. Every time I climb in the PB I smile and, in no time at all, I'm as giddy as a kid on the first day of school break. There is nothing in this world that brings back my happy childhood like that camper does :-) My husband and I love to pack it up and take it out for a weekend. Even in our cold Illinois winters, we manage to enjoy it. We sneak out to the garage where we sit in the camper, drinking beer and playing Monopoly. Sounds goofy, but you should try it some time! We have such fun in the PB. We take it to local cruise nights and car shows, but the most fun of all are our camping trips together. Every family should have one.

This 1978 Volkswagen is owned by Fernando Tobar
of Quito Ecuador, South America

He had the following to say about his car

Is a five generation VW. There would not be a great notice talking about a VW beetle. I think thousands of VW around the world are a five generation vehicle.
The difference is that mine is five generation in the same amily.
In 1978 my Father in Law bought it. Is a mexican standard 1600 model.
He used it a few months, and then gave it to his father in law.
That man (my grandfather in law) used "my" VW
until he died 5 years later.
After that, my wife's brother bought the VW to his father.
He used it until 1989. In that year my brother in law sold it to my Father.

That VW became on of the most lovely properties of my Father until he died on January 2003.
After his dead, I received that car as a part on his heritage
Since that date up to day I use my VW almost daily.
Rarely I give my VW to my son, when his car is on workshop for service. (By the way I'm a professional Mechanic.
Also a Photographer)
The last member generation in been transported in my VW is my Second Wife's granddaughter.
In summary:
1st generation: my first wife's grandfather
2nd generation: my first wife's Father and Mother, and my Parents.
3rth generation: Me, my wifes (the first and the actual), my brothers, my brothers in law.
4th generation: My son. My nieces in some rarely cases when my Father was alive and he let to use it for a while.
5th generation: My actual wife's granddaughter.
All of that five generation persons are related to me.
So that the reason why I feel some special about that car. The main reason why that car is so special for me is because it was a very valued for my Father.
When he died, I began a major reworking job on my VW.
It was on shop almost 8 months.
I changed all bad or in not ok working conditions body, motor and transmission parts.
Re-paint and decorate it. The most interesting issues are:
I "upgrade" the engine, making it 1700 cc's from stock 1600 cc's, increasing his power in almost 15 hp's
Reduce the stock wheel rim tires from 15" to 14"
Put a head protectors over the backs of front seats
Put a retractile seat belts on front seats.
Actually my VW is 115.000 miles (190.000 kmts)
Driving it feels so good and smoothly.
